Nicholas likes to be prepared. For instance, what if he is up in the Far Meadow, and he finds a good harvest of acorns but he has no wagon to carry them? That is why his wagon is always bumping along behind him. He says it's worth the extra effort. Plus it is shiny.
Nicholas is made from tan organic cotton fleece. His ears are lined with natural cotton muslin. His face is hand-stitched with cotton thread. If you want, you can order a hand-stitched monogram on his heart.
Nicholas's romper is a collaboration with our friends at Winter Water Factory. It's made from soft organic cotton and it closes in back with velcro. We sell the matching version for babies, too - these items would be darling together as a gift for a little one.
Nicholas will travel to you swaddled in a collectible bandana, perfumed with a lavender sachet. If he gets grimy you can hand-wash him and he will air dry.
Hazel Village was started in 2010. Owner, Jane, set out to make the toys she would have wanted as a child: soft and cute, with a rigorous commitment to the spirit of play. You'll never see a sewn-on doll shoe or a button that doesn't work, because that would mean admitting the animals aren't real. Hazel Village makes real organic cotton woodland creatures and dolls, and real doll clothes that all the Hazel Village friends can share, to inspire hours of immersive, low-tech play. Hazel Village dolls empower kids to play at their best: to make or imagine everything they need to make their dream worlds real.
