Zoe is converting part of the stream bank into a rock garden. It is slimy work, she says, but somebody’s got to do it. Possibly. Yesterday she saw two beautiful orange newts. This Zoe comes wearing an extra-special fancy outfit – her white cotton dress has a brocade ribbon detail. Her flower crown is made of pink, white, and green ribbon. Zoe’s outfit is removable so she can share and trade clothes with all the Hazel Village animals.
Hazel Village was started in 2010. Owner, Jane, set out to make the toys she would have wanted as a child: soft and cute, with a rigorous commitment to the spirit of play. You'll never see a sewn-on doll shoe or a button that doesn't work, because that would mean admitting the animals aren't real. Hazel Village makes real organic cotton woodland creatures and dolls, and real doll clothes that all the Hazel Village friends can share, to inspire hours of immersive, low-tech play. Hazel Village dolls empower kids to play at their best: to make or imagine everything they need to make their dream worlds real.
